Apr 18, 2019 Need this to be very similar to CK2 for purchase, or I'm better off carrying on with CK2. I've looked through paradox's released information on their website, from there I haven't been able to discern much regarding family tree's or how.
A Family Palace is a special type of holding unique to patricians of a merchant republic. Representing a collection of owned businesses and properties rather than feudal owned land, the Family Palace provides a unique construction tree of buildings that provide bonuses to the Patrician's stats and army. The Family Palace is always passed to the heir of the dynasty - either the eldest member or the Designated Heir. Since it does not represent a single physical structure, it is not located in any particular province. When raised, its levies will appear in the patrician's regular capital; if the patrician holds no other territory, the levies appear in the capital of the republic. A Family Palace can't be conquered, revoked or given away, nor can it be besieged.
Because a Family Palace can't be lost, provides unique bonuses, and its buildings do not have technology requirements, it should be a high priority for upgrades. However, the long construction times of the buildings mean that building a complete Family Palace will be a multi-generational process.
A Family Palace is only destroyed if the Patrician family has no male family members left.
